Low-Purity Clay Resources as an Alternative to Cement

 | Post date: 2021/11/16 |
Arash Zolfagharnasab, a graduate of AUT, stated: "Apart from reinforcing structures, replacing the part of the Portland cement with mineral additives (pozzolanic materials) will decrease the consumption of fuel and pollutant gases in the process of producing cement." In Iran, we are provided with a significant number of resources and reserves. In this research, the use of local resources with lower purity or waste from the industry of producing kaolinite to make alternative material for cement was on the agenda.
This project’s advisor was the deceased Professor Ali Akbar Ramezanianpour and the supervisor was Dr. Faramarz Mudi, who is a faculty member of AUT.

Dr. Ali Akbar Ramezanianpour was a prominent and esteemed professor at AUT in civil engineering, especially in technology and reinforced concrete and cement industry. He had won several awards in local and international scientific assemblies and had patented twenty-five local and international inventions, published aroud 200 articles in prestigious local and foreign journals, presented more than 450 articles in national and international conferences, and compiled close to 100 volumes of books. He truly was one of the prominent scientific figures in Iran and the world. He will truly be missed.
